India to bid for 2015 and 2016 Club World Cups: AIFF

     After the Under-17 World Cup, India might get to host yet another prestigious FIFA tournament, the Club World Cup in 2015.

     All India Football Federation president Praful Patel said in a press conference, "Officially we have put in a request to host the Club World Cup in 2015. That will mark a paradigm shift in the way football is looked at in India. Official communication has been made. Expect to know the outcome by the middle of next year."

Waqar Younis, Adam Gilchrist inducted into ICC's Hall of Fame

Pakistan's pace bowling great Waqar Younis and former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist were on Monday inducted into cricket's Hall of Fame, the International Cricket Council said.

Waqar claimed 373 wickets in 87 Tests and 416 wickets in 262 one-day internationals before retiring after the 2003 World Cup. He now works as a television commentator.

Gilchrist played 96 Tests during a 12-year career that ended in 2008, making 5,570 runs and claiming 416 dismissals behind the stumps.

In 287 one-day internationals, he scored 9,619 runs and dismissed 472 batsmen.

STAR India clinch Indian cricket team's sponsorship Rights

STAR India have now extended their relationship with the Indian cricket by winning Team India's sponsorship rights.
STAR India are already the broadcast partners of the Board of Control for Cricket in India The BCCI announced the sponsors after bids were opened in Chennai on Monday afternoon. According to the Board, two bids were submitted. 
STAR India won the rights after Sahara India's bid was found "ineligible." The rights are from January 1, 2014 to March 31, 2017 and covers BCCI, International Cricket Council and Asian Cricket Council events. Sahara India are the current team sponsors and their contract with BCCI expires at the end of December, 2013.
